New Book Series: Taking on the Challenge

Taking on the Challenge: Making it in Medical School is the first in a new series of booklets aimed at college students to help them succeed in their studies and to guide them in setting up a path toward success as they leave school.

The book is a collection of study, learning, and critical thinking “tips” designed to help medical students succeed in their medical courses.  The rigor, pace, and amount of information medical students are expected to master can be overwhelming.  Making it in Medical School is organized around thirteen challenges with practical suggestions to learn, remember, and retrieve information upon which a medical degree is based.

This collection of study tips is the outcome of the author’s 50 years of instruction premed and medical students.  Drs. Self and Lopate believe the techniques will empower medical students to meet the challenges of a medical school education. They are planning further books in this series, including Making it in Nursing School, Making it as a Student Athlete, and Making it as an International Student.
