Patsy Self Trand, PhD of International University & Kay Lopate, PhD of the University of Miami will be hosting an educational session at NAMME on Reading Professors’ Strategies on Reasoning and Critical Thinking in Medicine.
National Association of Medical Minority Educators
40th Annual National Conference
September 17th, 2015
Hyatt Regency – Louisville,KY
This session, will outline what two reading professors with extensive experience in teaching reading, critical thinking and reasoning in pre medical and medical programs at several universities, feel students should do to succeed in a medical career. The presentation will cover how to make a medical school time line that helps students meet the benchmarks to take the MCAT, how to think through the test and medical school readings using linear markings, and how to use the backup system to pass the USMLE, in other words: how to make it to the finish line! Since this presentation is activity based, all workshop participants must apply these strategies to the handouts or the materials they brought to the session; therefore, participants are encouraged to bring their current course schedules and a medical school textbook or MCAT readings.
NAMME is a national organization dedicated to developing and sustaining productive relationships as well as action-oriented programs among national, state, and community stakeholders working to ensure racial and ethnic diversity in all of the health professions.
